Wind Estate is an independent renewable energy company, specialising in the development and operation of wind energy projects. Founded in the early 1990s, and headquartered in Denmark, our company owns and operates wind energy projects. Wind Estate is now one of the largest private owner-operators of windfarms in Denmark and, is working to deliver a substantial and growing portfolio in the UK. Between Denmark and the UK, Wind Estate has nearly 400 operational wind turbines, and a substantial amount of development in the pipeline.

Whilst we continually seek to grow the portfolio of green-field development projects, our business is supplemented by the acquisition and continued operation of existing wind turbines, further optimising the performance of each project, and recovering the associated benefits that come with that.

Wind Estate’s 20 years of experience in the operation of wind farms is comprehensive, ranging from development, servicing and maintenance right through to the sale of power. We believe this experience gives us a competitive edge in the market, and the knowledge required to develop further projects with confidence, flexibility and the facility for swift decision making. This benefits all our partners and collaborators.

Although Wind Estate are continually seeking opportunities across Europe, Scotland represents the primary target for new development, and the area for the majority of future investment. We continue to be successful with the purchase of existing wind turbines for continuing operation, however, the focus is to significantly expand the operational portfolio through the delivery of an exciting development pipeline.

Wind Estate entered the UK market in 2016, at a time when many existing wind farm developers were withdrawing due to political and policy uncertainties for renewable energy projects. Since then, we have worked effectively and promptly to secure a portfolio of approximately 1GW of onshore wind farm opportunities across Scotland, at varying stages of the development process.

Having forged strong working relationships within the renewable industry in Scotland, Wind Estate have an ambitious long term business plan and are committed to working with landowners, stakeholders and statutory consultees to bring about successful developments, with a key focus on building long lasting relationships and maximising the optimum capacity of each potential site. This allows for the benefits of our projects to be spread to all involved parties, from contractors to communities throughout the project lifetime.
